Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Design

Personalisation
Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to essentially design their own car. Guests sit at a series of images referred to as "mood stations" and pick a set of photos - from scenic vistas to sporting events - that can inspire them. After each selection is made, a pattern will emerge which shows the models and colors of the personalized Bentley.
The configuration that is created is stored on individual R.F.I.D.-enabled keys which are presented to guests in a custom-made key case. The keys can be equipped with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the way of the door's opening. They are adorned with the owner's name or logo as they approach the vehicle.
Bentley says it takes roughly 500 man hours to design and assemble the average Mulsanne. A key to that time-consuming effort is a conscious refusal to adopt the latest technology.
